취업을 못해 빚을 갚을 길이 없어져 신용불량자로 내몰린 20대가 늘어나는 것으로 나타났다.
22일 신용회복위원회에 따르면, 3개월 이상 대출금을 연체해 개인워크아웃(채무조정)을 신청한 20대는 지난해 기준 6804명으로 집계돼 일년전보다 4.2% 늘어났다.
개인워크아웃제도는 최저생계비 이상의 수입이 있는 신용불량자를 구제할 목적으로 2002년 11월부터 시행되고 있는 제도이다. 금융회사에서 대출금 상환을 3개월 이상 연체했을 경우 신청가능하며, 개인워크아웃대상으로 선정되면 당장 채무를 갚지 않아도 될 뿐만 아니라 빚의 일부를 탕감 받을 수도 있다.
일년전보다 30대는 10.2% 감소했고, 40대도 8.1%, 50대는 3.6%, 60세 이상은 1.7%씩 각각 줄어들었다. 워크아웃신청자가 늘어난 연령층은 20대뿐이다.
또한 20대가 전체워크아웃신청건수에서 차지하는 비중도 일년전의 8.5%에서 9.5%로 늘어났다.
연체기간3개월미만을 대상으로 한 프리워크아웃(사전채무조정)을 신청한 20대도 2180명으로, 일년전의 2029명보다 7.4%늘어났다.
더욱 심각한 건 눈덩이처럼 빚이 늘고 있지만, 20대가 이를 갚을 길은 막막하다.
통계청에 따르면 지난해 20대 고용률은 58.1% 수준에 불과했다. 반면 50대는 72.2%, 40대는 78.3%, 30대도 72.7%의 고용률을 보였다.
지난달 20대취업자감소폭은 10만명을 웃돌며 2년만에 최대치를 기록했고, 경제활동참가율도 한달전보다 2.9%추락했다.
20대채무불이행자가 늘어난 원인으로는 높은 등록금과 좁아진 취업문 등이 꼽힌다. 학생들이 등록금이나 생활비를 감당하지 못해 빚을 지고, 취업에 실패해 빚을 갚지 못하면서 경제적으로 어려운 상황에 놓인 것이다.
지난달 20대취업자감소폭은 10만명을 웃돌아 2년만에 가장 높은 수치를 기록했고 20대 경제활동참가율 역시 전월대비 2.9%포인트 떨어졌으며 구직단념자는 넉달 연속 증가한 상태이다.
