7일 세계노총이 조지마브리코스사무총장의 명의로 <5대륙 133개국의 생활하고 노동하며 투쟁하는 민중을 대변하는 세계노총은 남유럽세계노총에 대한 이탈리아경찰의 탄압작전을 즉각 중단할것을 요구한다. 이탈리아경찰은 남유럽세계노총사무실에 불법진입하고 압수수색을 자행했다.>고 성명을 발표했다.
성명은 <남유럽세계노총은 오직 노동계급의 투쟁정신을 무기로 가지며, 그것은 반노동적이고 호전적인 이탈리아정부에 반대하는 정신이다>라며 <형제, 자매 그리고 남유럽세계노총 동지들은 혼자가 아니다. 우리는 남유럽세계노총의 편에 있다.>라고 밝혔다.
이어 <세계노총은 남유럽세계노총을 위한 행동을 전개할 것이며 어두운 경로에 의한 더럽고 중상적인 작전은 반드시 실패할 것이다>라고 규탄했다.
끝으로 <진정한 노동운동을 전개해온 남유럽세계노총에 이탈리아노동자들이 지지를 보내주길 바란다>라며 <남유럽세계노총에 손 떼라!>고 호소했다.

| On behalf of our 105 million affiliates who live, work and struggle in 133 countries of the 5 continents we demand an immediate end to the organized police provocation against the USB, a WFTU affiliate. We also condemn the illegal police entry and raid at the trade union offices. USB struggles with its only weapons: its class-oriented line and its militant spirit in plain daylight; that is the kind of struggle which disturbs the anti-worker and pro-war Italian government. Brothers and sisters, comrades of the USB, you are not alone. We all stand with you. The WFTU of the five continents will move and act with you, so that this dirty and slanderous operation orchestrated by dark cycles fail. We call upon Italian workers to support the USB which constitutes the genuine class force of the trade union movement in Italy. Hands off the USB!
